Germán Medina was born in Tenerife – Canary Islands, where he began his piano studies and developed his compositions through improvisation.
He moved to The Hague in 2015 where he currently studies composition with Guus Janssen and Calliope Tsoupaki. He also studies fortepiano with Petra Somlai, strengthening his connection with historical performance practice. Germán is also interested in space as an important factor while composing a piece.
His pieces have been performed by groups such as Residentie Orkest or The New European Ensemble and he is currently working on pieces for DifrAcción Ensemble and But What About.
